Whistler Coaching Program
Camp consists of 3 training rotations of 4 days, each separated by a rest day (total of two rest days).

THE MOGUL PROGRAM

The first training period focuses on technical mogul skiing and the fundamentals all athletes need to be successful in freestyle. The second training period gives athletes a chance to work specifically on their aerial skills, a very important aspect of current mogul competition. Athletes will work on their rotations, off-axis tricks, and qualified inverted jumps and will receive feedback from their coaches on the hill, so they can continue to improve each run. During this training period, athletes also work on their tactical skiing, speed and just get some mileage on the hill. The final training period includes one day of competition training, two days of mogul and dual mogul competition, and a day of big air competition. Mogul skiers all share the goal of achieving 200 mogul runs throughout the camp and scoring 2 points over their best score during the competition days.

The Freeride Program

The freeride program focuses on big air skills and rails. Freestyle America’s lane allows for a slopestyle course, including rails and 2 multiple hit tabletops. Blackcomb also provides a public park with a sick slopestyle course and half-pipe. The coaches spend the camp working with athletes on take-off and landing skills, provide new school aerial progressions, and follow current USSA qualification protocols. The freeride program focuses on each athlete’s personal goals and competitive potential. On the final day of camp, athletes will be encouraged to compete in the big air jam on the Freestyle America lane, so they can grow their confidence in their new tricks and competitive skills.
